Art therapy

What do you see in each painting?
In the four paintings with landscapes, what time of the day and what season is it?
How does each painting make you feel?

What could make you go to an art gallery?
Which type of paintings do you think are the best to raise mood?
Have you ever created a piece of art? How did it make you feel?
If I were a painting, I would be ...

Can art be helpful in combatting bad mood?

  1. Can seeing works of art broaden your horizons? How?
  2. Can having a beautiful work of art lengthen your life span? How?
  3. Can you deepen your understanding of art? How?
  4. Do lovely paintings heighten our joy? Why?
Read the description and decide which two paintings it is about.
What do these two paintings have in common? Well, they are both about people having some sort of meal. In both pictures, people are outside picnicking. It looks like the weather is great. These paintings are different, too. We can see children in one of them. I think it's some child's birthday, and they are having cakes and fruit for treats. But in the other picture we can see adults, and the man is fishing while one of the women is looking at the water. They have finished their picnic, and the other woman is reading a book. Or, maybe, they are waiting for the man to catch some fish and have a barbecue.

Now compare the other two paintings.

Describe the painting. What type of painting is it? What can you see in it? What colours are used in it? What season and time of the day is it? What's the weather like? What feelings do you associate with it?
